WKK cable ties
Under our own WKK brand, we offer a wide range of cable ties. These cable ties are of high quality, and we have the right product available for nearly every application. Distinctions can be made between different materials and various uses.
Types of cable tie materials
Cable ties can be made from two materials: plastic and stainless steel. Within these two material types, distinctions can be made between different types of stainless steel and plastic, each with specific properties and corresponding applications.
Types of plastic for cable ties
Polyamide 6.6 – Regular plastic cable ties
Most cable ties are made from polyamide 6.6. This type of plastic is suitable for most regular applications for which cable ties are used. They can be used in temperatures between -20 °C and +85 °C, and are halogen-free and silicone-free. Our WKK cable ties made from polyamide 6.6 have a plastic locking barb.
Polyamide 6.6 with metal pigments – Detectable cable ties
Detectable cable ties, made from polyamide 6.6 mixed with metal pigments, can be detected by metal detectors due to these pigments. These are often used in the food industry. Additionally, these cable ties are always blue in color, making them easier to spot, especially in the food industry.
Polyamide 4.6 heat resistant – Cable ties resistant to extreme temperatures
Cable ties made from polyamide 4.6 are resistant to temperatures up to +150°C. As a result, they can withstand higher temperatures than cable ties made from polyamide 6.6.
Polyamide 12 – Plastic solar cable ties
Cable ties made from polyamide 12 are more flexible than those made from polyamide 6.6, even at low temperatures. They are also more resistant to chemicals. Lastly, polyamide 12 absorbs less water than polyamide 6.6, making the material less sensitive to external influences.
Polypropylene – Chemical-resistant cable ties
Polypropylene cable ties are resistant to chemicals and will also float. This makes them easy to trace if they accidentally end up in a container of chemicals, for example.
Polyethylene – For air conditioners
Cable ties for air conditioners are specifically suitable for securing pipes of air conditioning systems.
Types of stainless steel for cable ties
AISI 304 – With or without coating
Cable ties made from stainless steel AISI 304 are suitable for heavier applications than plastic cable ties. They have a higher tensile strength and can withstand extremely high temperatures up to +538°C.
These cable ties are also available with a coating. This coating ensures that the edge of the stainless steel cable tie does not cut into the cable. However, the cable tie will then be resistant to lower temperatures, specifically up to +150°C.
AISI 316L – With or without coating
AISI 316L offers, in addition to the properties that also apply to AISI 304, excellent corrosion resistance (including to acids and salts). This makes them suitable for use on, for example, oil rigs. AISI 316L cable ties are also available with a coating.
