Stainless steel AISI 304
Stainless steel cable ties are suitable for applications in harsh environmental conditions that may affect the ties, such as corrosion, vibrations, weathering, radiation, or extreme temperatures. Cable ties made of grade 304 are suitable for standard applications, while grade 316 offers better resistance to saltwater corrosion.
Properties of stainless steel AISI 304
AISI 304 offers good resistance to external influences. This material, and therefore the AISI 304 stainless steel cable ties, can withstand temperatures of up to +538 °C. They are also frost-resistant and can be used in temperatures as low as -80 °C. They have a tensile strength of 90 to 160 kilograms. AISI 304 is, of course, non-flammable, halogen-free, and silicone-free.
Coated or uncoated
Both steel grades (AISI 304 and AISI 316L) are available in coated and uncoated versions. The coated cable ties offer excellent insulation and protection for items like cables or pipes, as the coating prevents the steel of the cable tie from cutting into the cable. However, a downside of coated stainless steel cable ties is that the temperature range is significantly lower compared to the uncoated version. The coating can melt, and its melting point is much lower than the +538 °C resistance of the uncoated variant. The coating is made of polyester and is resistant to temperatures up to +150 °C.
