UV resistant cable ties

When cable ties are used outdoors, they are exposed to UV radiation from the sun. This exposure can shorten the lifespan of the cable tie. That is why special UV-resistant cable ties have been developed.

Types of UV-resistant cable ties

We offer the following types of UV-resistant cable ties:

  • Ty-Rap® Plastic Cable Ties – Extra Chemical Resistance – Polyamide 12
  • Ty-Rap® Plastic Cable Ties – Chemical Resistant – Polypropylene
  • Stainless Steel Cable Ties – Uncoated
  • Stainless Steel Cable Ties – Coated

Ty-Rap® plastic cable ties – Extra chemical resistance – Polyamide 12

These UV-resistant cable ties are made of polyamide 12, which provides better protection against chemicals than standard cable ties. They feature a stainless steel locking mechanism and are both halogen- and silicone-free.

Ty-Rap® plastic cable ties – Chemical resistant – Polypropylene

This type of cable tie is made of polypropylene, a material that offers excellent resistance to chemicals, making it ideal for environments where cable ties may be exposed to chemicals. Like the polyamide 12 cable ties, these also feature a stainless steel locking tongue. They are halogen-free and silicone-free.

Stainless steel cable ties – Uncoated

Stainless steel cable ties are available in two types: uncoated and coated. Additionally, they come in two stainless steel grades: AISI 304 and AISI 316L.

Uncoated cable ties have no coating and are therefore considered "regular" stainless steel cable ties. They are UV-resistant since UV radiation does not affect stainless steel. They have a much higher tensile strength than plastic cable ties and can withstand temperatures up to +538°C.

AISI 316L stainless steel differs from AISI 304 stainless steel due to its excellent corrosion resistance (against weather, acid, salt, and industrial environments). This makes AISI 316L cable ties particularly suitable for use in the most extreme conditions.

Stainless steel cable ties – Coated

Coated stainless steel cable ties are essentially standard stainless steel cable ties, with the only difference being that they have a polyester coating. This coating helps prevent the sharp edges of the cable tie from cutting into the bundled cables. However, the trade-off is that the maximum peak temperature is lower, at +150°C.
