Plastic cable ties

Plastic cable ties are popular products because the material plastic has a very good price-quality ratio. Therefore, plastic cable ties are suitable for many applications. WKK supplies a wide range of plastic zip ties: from different material qualities, colors and sizes to different types of tie closures and types of zip ties.

Nylon cable ties from WKK: our plastic material qualities

The nylon cable ties from WKK are available in the material qualities: polyamide 6.6, polyamide 4.6, polyamide 12, polypropylene and ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE, better known under the brand Tefzel®). Which material quality is suitable for you depends on the intended application.

Polyamide 6.6 (also called PA 66 or Nylon 66) is a versatile material quality for plastic cable ties. This material quality is suitable for almost all applications due to its good product lifetime, heat resistance, electrical properties and price. Within nylon 66 you have the option to choose a higher heat resistance (from +85 degrees Celsius to +120 degrees Celsius).

You choose polyamide 4.6 if you need a higher heat resistance than polyamide 6.6. Where the maximum operating temperature of PA 6.6 is +120 degrees Celsius, PA 4.6 is heat resistant up to a operating temperature of +150 degrees Celsius.

If you are looking for polyamide zip ties that must be UV resistant (for outdoor applications, for example) and/or must have a higher chemical resistance, then it is best to choose polyamide 12 zip ties. These are relatively insensitive to changing environmental influences and remain flexible in cold and dry conditions. Polyamide 12 zip ties do have a lower tensile strength than zip ties made from polyamide 6.6.

Polypropylene cable ties are suitable for applications where the cable ties must be resistant to chemicals and/or must float on liquids. Polypropylene offers a higher chemical resistance than PA 12. These cable ties are resistant to many acids, bases, solvents and bacteria.

The most advanced material quality in the plastic cable tie range is ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE, also known as Tefzel®). These cable ties are not only highly resistant to chemicals (acids, bases and solvents), but are also resistant to radiation and extremely high and low temperatures (-60 to +170 degrees Celsius).

Different zip tie colors: available from stock!

WKK has a wide range of colored zip ties. Whether you choose black or transparent, the most common colors, or when you are looking for the colors blue, brown, yellow, grey, green, orange, purple, red or white; many colors are available from stock. You can use colored zip ties to mark, for example, cables. In addition, the color can also match your corporate identity or project.

Plastic cable ties: 3 types of tie closures

There are three types of plastic tie closures:

• Plastic closure with plastic locking barb
• Plastic releasable closure with plastic locking barb
• Plastic closure with stainless steel locking barb

Unfortunately, releasing and reusing a cable tie is not always possible. If you are looking for cable ties that are reusable, then choose releasable cable ties. A plastic closure with stainless steel locking barb, better known as Ty-Rap® cable ties, is stronger and therefore more durable than a tie closure made entirely of plastic.

In addition to the tie closure, you also have several options regarding the type of zip tie that you can choose. In addition to the standard zip tie type (for universal use), the following types are available:

Need a different cable tie material?

In addition to plastic cable ties, WKK also sells stainless steel cable ties and detectable cable ties. Stainless steel cable ties are suitable for extreme applications. Compared to plastic, stainless steel is more durable, stronger in tensile strength and more resistant to high temperatures and extreme weather conditions.
