Ty-Fast® cable ties
Ty-Fast® is a brand of Thomas & Betts, which is now part of ABB. Thomas & Betts was the first company to introduce cable ties to the market. They are particularly known for the Ty-Rap® brand, which has become synonymous with what we call cable ties. However, in addition to Ty-Rap® cable ties, they also introduced the Ty-Fast® cable tie.
Difference between Ty-Fast® and Ty-Rap® cable ties
Ty-Rap® and Ty-Fast® cable ties are largely the same when comparing Ty-Fast® cable ties with the polyamide 6.6 variant of Ty-Rap® (for universal use). Both are silicone-free and halogen-free. They can both be used in temperatures up to 85°C – with the black variant able to withstand temperatures up to 105°C. However, there is one important difference. Ty-Fast® cable ties have a plastic locking barb in the head of the cable tie, while Ty-Rap® cable ties have a stainless steel locking barb.
Ty-Fast® cable ties are made of polyamide 6.6 and are suitable for universal use – these cable ties are ideal for most applications. They can be used in temperatures ranging from -45°C to 85°C, with the black variant even capable of withstanding temperatures up to 105°C. They have a flammability rating of UL 94 V-2 and are halogen-free and silicone-free.
Variants of Ty-Fast® cable ties
There are 67 variants of Ty-Fast® cable ties available. They are available in black and natural colors, and in lengths ranging from a minimum of 115 to a maximum of 1233 millimeters. The available widths range from 2.4 to 9 millimeters. Depending on the size of the cable tie, a packaging unit (VPE) contains a minimum of 50 to a maximum of 1000 ties.
The tensile strength varies by variant, ranging from 8.2 to 79.3 kilograms. This tensile strength is comparable to that of Ty-Rap® cable ties.
