Ty-Rap® cable ties
In addition to cable ties of our own WKK brand, we offer a wide range of cable ties of the brand Ty-Rap®. The Ty-Rap® brand was founded by Thomas & Betts, who first introduced cable ties to the market. Later, this brand was acquired by ABB, a global supplier of technical products.
Ty-Rap® cable ties differ from WKK cable ties in the locking mechanism. While the locking barb of WKK cable ties is made of plastic, the locking barb of Ty-Rap® cable ties is made of stainless steel.
Different types of Ty-Rap® cable ties
In our range, you will find six types of cable ties from the Ty-Rap® brand. These are made of different materials and therefore have specific properties for specific applications. These are outlined below. In addition to these six different types, the 'regular' Ty-Rap® cable ties are also sold in workbench boxes.
Ty-Rap® plastic cable ties – Polyamide 6.6
The plastic cable ties of the Ty-Rap® brand are made of polyamide 6.6 and are the most commonly used type. They are suitable for most everyday applications. They have an operating temperature range of -60°C to +85°C and are halogen-free and silicone-free.
Ty-Rap® Tefzel® cable ties – Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE)
Tefzel® cable ties are made from ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, a material that is resistant to chemicals, radiation, and extreme temperatures up to 170°C. This type of cable tie is often used in environments where chemicals are handled.
Ty-Rap® plastic cable ties – Polypropylene
Polypropylene cable ties are resistant to chemicals and will float on liquids. This makes them easy to retrieve from containers of chemicals if they end up there (after breaking).
Ty-Rap® detectable cable ties – Polyamide 6.6 with metal pigments
Detectable cable ties are made from polyamide 6.6 and contain metal pigments, allowing them to be detected by metal detectors. Their blue color also makes them more visible than black cable ties. This is particularly required in the food industry.
Ty-Rap® detectable cable ties – Polypropylene with metal pigments
These cable ties are similar in application to detectable cable ties made of polyamide 6.6, but since they are made from polypropylene, they are more resistant to chemicals and will float on liquids.
Ty-Rap® plastic cable ties – Polyamide 12
Ty-Rap® cable ties made of polyamide 12 are UV resistant and also extra resistant to chemicals. As a result, they have a longer lifespan than regular cable ties made from polyamide 6.6.
